The crocodile, which had eaten a 10-year-old boy in a river in Miri on Friday, was shot dead on Sunday.

The 4.5-m long reptile was shot twice in the head by a police officer along a river near the Niah National Park.

Authorities had launched a hunt for the crocodile after it attacked young Jaba Kana and dragged him away while he was bathing near his home.

Officials found Jaba's head and body parts floating along the river. When the boy's father sliced open the dead crocodile's stomach, he found Jaba's hand and leg inside.

The victim's mother, Ms Jemah Abor, said that she dived into the river during the attack on Friday and tried to wrestle the crocodile away.

But she nearly drowned when the beast struck her with its tail.

Meanwhile, in Pangkor Island, villagers were shocked by the discovery of two decomposed arms in the mouth of a Great White shark caught on Sunday.

The massive shark, which weighed about three tonnes, was caught by four fishermen aboard a trawler.

The trawler's steerman Xie Nai Fa, 48, said the gruesome find was made at 10 am on Sunday morning, when the shark was dragged on board.

Two arms fell out from the mouth of the shark, along with some trash.

The arms still had some bits of decomposed flesh, and gave off a foul smell. The crew then informed their trawler captain, who reported the discovery to the police.

When the trawler returned to port it was surrounded by curious locals.

Police directed the crew to steer the ship out to sea again, where they slit open the shark's belly but found no other bones inside.

The carcass was then thrown back into sea. --AP,Sin Chew Jit Poh/Asia News Network
